Its valued at $3.1M. I paid around $2.8M.

More expensive than other '08 turbo Legacies, but none of the other ones I've seen have these specs.

I think there is one selling in May Pen for $2.5M, '08, but partial leather seats, no sunroof etc.

Installed Hawk pads and changed the brake fluid to Motul. Much better stopping power now.
While doing that I discovered that the car also has Sti pinks lowering springs and front and rear Sti tie bars.  2 thumbs up
I always thought the car looked a little low for a stock car.  2 thumbs up

That's just the smell of burnt coolant. It will go away eventually.

The Forester is basically a WRX on stilts. The WRX is a much lighter setup than the Legacy.
4  General Information / Members Rides / Re: 2008 Subaru Legacy GT on: February 23, 2013, 08:04:00 AM
Sorry to hear about that. Hope it didn't result in any engine damage.

I find the stick shift Forester was definitely more fuel efficient and it's a lighter vehicle.
5  General Information / Members Rides / Re: 2008 Subaru Legacy GT on: February 21, 2013, 11:22:37 PM
wish I could have bought it. I looked really good.

I do kind of miss it. It was a great vehicle. The clutch was kind of getting to me as a daily driver though. If money was no object, I'd have a garage full of Subbies.   2 thumbs up

The car has a camera by the front license plate that you can manually activate to see in front of you by intersections. It can do full front or split and show left and right and also underneath.

U still have the Cross Sport Forester?

Nope. Had to sell one Subbie to get the other.

8  Classifieds / Auto-Parts Wanted / For Sale / Re: BIG SALE !!!!!!!!BRAKES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BIG SALE - HAWK & DBA on: February 06, 2013, 02:38:06 PM
Good timing, I was just thinking about brakes.

I recently bought a 2008 Subaru Legacy GT with stock brakes. The brakes aren't bad, but as usual could be better. I have a set of front four pot WRX calipers with slightly used pads and two bottles of Motul brake fluid put down, which I was going to use to upgrade the brakes when I had a Forester Cross Sport.

I am now contemplating whether to upgrade the Legacy brake system with DBA rotors, hawk hps pads and stainless lines OR put on the WRX calipers and change the fluid and, see how that feels. If anything I would then get the Hawk pads and rotor for a WRX set up.

Based on what I've read the stock Legacy Caliper and the stock WRX caliper seem to be pretty similar, except that the Legacy is a sliding caliper and the WRX fixed. Also, on another note, the WRX calipers are more sporty looking.

What are your thoughts?

13  Subaru Forrester / Subaru Forester STI / Re: 2009 STI Forester Japan Only on: September 25, 2012, 05:03:10 PM
can someone locate for me an STI Forester please?

Ask and it shall be given unto you-

http://www.tradecarview.com/used_car/japan%20car/subaru/forester/11399954/

This one looks like an authentic STi Forester.

Could also check out this one.

http://www.tradecarview.com/used_car/japan%20car/subaru/forester/11400093/

Not sure if you can still bring in an 06 though.

I wouldn't even try for a special ed Forester in the new shape. I checked out one on Tradecarview once and it was like US$40,000 or some ridiculous price like that.

Good luck!

I am only too happy to oblige. I'll be sure to warm up the engine for you. You can pm me the time and place so that no Legacy (ahem Spec B) people come and insert themselves in the Forester link.  Roll On Floor Laughing

How about August 18th? Post Olympics link-up.

Leave out say 10am, take a 'short'  whistle drive to Mandeville, have some lunch, drink 2 juice and then be back in time to do your preferred Sat evening activity?
18  Technical Discussion / Electronics / Re: Steering Wheel Mod on: July 27, 2012, 11:01:46 PM
There's a 2006 Forester like yours at RPM, I wish I could switch my Forester for it (manual also). I miss the gear shifting in a Turbo  resent

I saw it. It does look like mine.

Nah lie. I'm loving the stick. If you could get a similar price for yours as their selling price, then maybe you could give it a shot,  but knowing RPM, I'm sure they want well over $2M for it.

LOL.

I'm not doing any performance mods. This is an in-car entertainment mod.  Grin

I decided to take your advice G and use the same name that I use on the US Subaru Forums. I should also mention that Trinidad has a pretty decent Subaru Forum as well.

With this name, no matter what Subaru I get, I should be good.  2 thumbs up

De-catting is what I call maintenance. That don't count as a mod.  whistle
22  Technical Discussion / Electronics / Steering Wheel Mod on: July 26, 2012, 10:43:44 PM
For those who know me, you know I like to Blaze new trails with mods which haven't been done yet in Jamaica.

Right now my current project involves swapping out a standard Momo Steering Wheel in my 06 Cross Sports to one from an 07 Outback, with steering wheel controls for the radio.

The steering wheel is installed, but haven't gotten the wiring down yet to get the controls working.

Pics of the new wheel vs the old one soon come.

Btw, if anyone knows where I can get the wiring loom from a Subbie that comes stock with steering wheel controls, that would be much appreciated.

Updates to follow.

24  Subaru Impreza / Subaru Impreza WRX STI / Re: Equal vs Unequal Length headers on: July 25, 2012, 10:22:55 PM
It's worth noting that the latest BMW 328i is a 2l with a twins roll turbo, presumably with equal
Length headers, just like the Legacy and STi.

What BMW has been doing, to cure the sound issue, as they move to turbos with smaller engines is use a sound generator which works through the radio to give it that same engine sound that enthusiasts love.
25  Subaru Legacy / Subaru Legacy Turbo / Re: 2007 Legacy 4 turbo on: July 25, 2012, 10:13:35 PM
From personal experience I found the Legacy engine to be rock solid. I took my stock block to over 300whp and upto 30lbs of boost without an issue. In facts there were a few instances where my air/fuel ratio leaned out and I thought the engine would blow and it didn't. You can look at my post entitled "My 300whp Legacy" or something like that.

That being said, I would personally stay away from the Legacy wagons. I know two persons who owned turbo wagons and both seem to have had issues with the engine blowing more than once. I'm sure there are other Legacy wagons without problems, but that was just what I observed.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I can tell you that of all the different vehicles I've owned, Subbie is the only one I've ever bought twice, with no regrets.

Slight update, I de-catted the downpipe and now it's just flying to redline.  Evil Smile

Also, getting a real feel for the stick again.  2 thumbs up

Looking forward to the next 3 or 4 car pre-rollout link where we can have some fun.  whistle

Thanks G. Brought in the rims from Trinidad. Shipping and ting cost me more than I thought it would, so I was happy for the quick sale of the stockers.

For now I want to get some bushings to improve the shifting feel, upgrade the brakes, a downpipe, K&N filter, an Sti muffler and a tune.

If some money reach might get a drop-in turbo.  whistle

I'm Curious what its doing currently, because it pulls harder than I thought it would on a stock turbo. Swiffy suppose to log it when he comes back.
